Manchester United is scheduled to compete in friendly matches in Malaysia and Hong Kong this May.

Manchester United has announced that they will embark on a series of friendly matches in Malaysia and Hong Kong shortly after the conclusion of the Premier League season. According to the club’s statement released on Tuesday, the team, managed by Ruben Amorim, is scheduled to compete against an ASEAN All-Star XI in Kuala Lumpur on May 28, followed by a match against a Hong Kong representative team on May 30.

The club will conclude its current Premier League campaign with a home match against Aston Villa on May 25, marking what has been a challenging season.

In addition, it is noteworthy that United’s last trip to Asia was in July 2022, when they faced Liverpool in Thailand. Looking ahead, they are also set to participate in the Premier League Summer Series in the United States in preparation for the 2025-2026 season.

Chief Executive Omar Berrada emphasized the importance of these tour matches, stating, “Tour fixtures generate significant additional revenue, which strengthens the club and enables us to continue investing in our success on the pitch.”

Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool have previously announced plans to visit Hong Kong in July. United, currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, last played in Hong Kong in 2013. The local team will be managed by Ashley Westwood, a former youth player for United, and is currently ranked 153rd in the world.
