Investigations into the Alleged Abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi Still Ongoing, Court Told
Investigations into the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi remain incomplete, the Milimani Law Courts heard on Tuesday.
The court was informed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is still analyzing mobile phones and other electronic devices seized from the suspects. According to the prosecution, the devices were submitted to the DCI headquarters and forensic laboratory, where data extraction is still in progress. The full forensic analysis is expected to take up to 21 days.
“The electronic devices were taken to the DCI forensic labs, and the extraction is ongoing. We anticipate releasing the items within 21 days,” the prosecution told Magistrate Mark Ekhubi.
Appearing in court were the five accused: MP George Koimburi, Peter Kiratu, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, and Murang’a MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, all represented by legal counsel.
The defence confirmed they had partially received the prosecution’s evidence and agreed to the proposed 21-day period for full disclosure of the remaining materials.
The court also heard that both parties had reached an agreement regarding the return of motor vehicles seized during the investigation. The vehicles are to be released within seven days unless investigators raise objections.
Magistrate Ekhubi commended the spirit of cooperation between the prosecution and defence, noting that it was contributing to the efficient handling of the case.
He set the matter for mention on September 10, 2025, to review the status of evidence disclosure and the return of both the electronic devices and the vehicles.
