Five people, including a baby, lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Mbaruk area in Gilgil, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. The victims comprised two men, two women, and the infant — all of whom were travelling in a private car, according to Nakuru County Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Ogolla.
The accident occurred when the car’s driver attempted to overtake multiple vehicles and crashed head-on into an oncoming long-distance truck. The impact pushed the saloon car into a trailer, resulting in the instant death of all five occupants.
The crash caused heavy traffic congestion for several hours as emergency services worked to clear the scene.
“We continue to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly on this deadly stretch of road,” said Ogolla.
