High Court Rescinds Suspension on Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi

The Kakamega High Court has lifted the 90-day suspension placed on Harambee Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Patrick Matasi by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over match-fixing allegations. In a ruling made on Tuesday, the court issued a conservatory order, allowing Matasi to participate in all FKF-sanctioned events and competitions until the case is fully heard and resolved.

Matasi had been suspended on March 27 following the circulation of videos on social media suggesting he was involved in match-fixing with a suspected recruiter. The court’s conservatory order prevents FKF from enforcing the suspension until the petition filed by Matasi is addressed.

The ruling stated that FKF had not responded to the application or attended the court session, and therefore, the application was considered unopposed. The court also ordered that FKF respond to the petition within 30 days, with a hearing scheduled for June 4, 2025.
